School of Management


The predecessor of the School of Management at Wuhan University of Bioengineering was the Department of Management Engineering, established in 2005 concurrently with the university’s upgrading to a public undergraduate institution. In 2014, to adapt to the needs of transformative development and in light of the continuous deepening of connotative construction and the rapid and sound development momentum of management-related disciplines, the Department of Management Engineering was officially renamed the School of Management. As the second-level school with the longest history and largest scale in the university, the School of Management adheres to the overall development goals of building a support system for first-class social science discipline construction, creating a hub for first-class social science talents, establishing an experimental zone for reform in cultivating first-class applied talents, and striving to be a pacemaker in first-class social science research. It endeavors to contribute to the university’s mission of constructing a national first-class non-governmental undergraduate university featuring collaborative innovation and integrated development of industry, academia, research, and application.


Currently, the School offers 3 undergraduate programs, namely Financial Management, Financial Engineering, and Marketing, as well as 4 junior school programs including Big Data and Financial Management, Marketing, Tourism Management, and E-commerce. Among them, the Financial Management program is recognized as a provincial first-class undergraduate program.


The School currently has over 80 faculty and staff members, including 30 professors and associate professors; 85% of the faculty hold doctoral or master’s degrees; nearly a quarter of the teachers have overseas study experience. The School has formed a teaching and research team led by second-level professors, with high-level experts and scholars as the core and outstanding young and middle-aged teachers as the backbone. Among them, the Management Accounting Teaching Team has been awarded the provincial-level teaching team. Faculty members of the School have undertaken more than 50 teaching and research projects at various levels; won 2 provincial teaching achievement awards and 3 provincial outstanding achievements awards in social sciences; published over 200 research papers; and authored/edited more than 30 books and teaching materials. The School has developed 12 high-quality video and online open courses, among which 3 courses have been approved as national and provincial first-class courses.


The School has established advanced and fully equipped laboratories and multiple high-quality innovation and entrepreneurship education practice platforms. It has built cooperative partnerships with multiple overseas universities for “Overseas Study and Practical Education”. Additionally, the School has established more than 50 internship, training, and employment bases for school students, which can provide a solid guarantee for student’s; professional learning, employment, entrepreneurship, and personalized development.


In recent years, the School’s graduate employment rate has remained above 95%, with many graduates having grown into business backbone in enterprises and public institutions. A group of leading entrepreneurs such as Tao Jichao, Song Xiong, Qiao Lei, Yang Feng, Li Longyue, and Yuan Kun have emerged. Students have won more than 100 awards in various competitions at all levels. Meanwhile, the postgraduate entrance examination success rate and the number of students studying abroad have been steadily increasing.



Financial Management (Undergraduate Program, enrolling both liberal arts and science students, the duration of study is four years, awarding the degree of Bachelor of Management)

Professional Advantages and Characteristics: The Financial Management program is a Hubei Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program, a key construction program of the university, and an authorized "Second Bachelor’s Degree" program, with national first-class courses established. The enrollment scale and talent cultivation quality of this program have consistently ranked among the forefront of similar universities. "Student-Centered ‘952’ Teaching Method Reform and Practice in Financial Management" won the 9th Hubei Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. With a long history of education, strong faculty, and high-quality talent cultivation, the program relies on the in-campus Digital and Intelligent Finance Industry School built around it, which has established good cooperative relationships with multiple domestic and international accounting firms and Global Fortune 500 enterprises. Marketing (Undergraduate Program, enrolling students from both liberal arts and science backgrounds, four-year program, awarding the degree of Bachelor of Management)

Professional Advantages and Characteristics: Marketing is the longest-established key program in the School, approved as the first batch of pilot programs for transformative development reform by the university in 2013. Faculty and students of this program have won multiple awards in national and provincial "Internet Plus" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competitions, including a National Bronze Award and a Hubei Provincial Gold Award in 2023. Four alumni enterprises have successfully listed on the Hubei Youth Innovation Board.

Financial Engineering (Undergraduate Program, enrolling both liberal arts and science students, four-year program, awarding the degree of Bachelor of Economics)

Professional Advantages and Characteristics: This program embodies the "New Liberal Arts" philosophy, with interdisciplinary integration of finance, statistics, computer science, and other disciplines, creating a cross-fused knowledge system. It boasts first-class financial engineering laboratories and curriculum training software, with renowned enterprises such as Changjiang Securities Co., Ltd. serving as internship bases. The program’s teaching quality case has been listed as a key research project by the Hubei Provincial Society of Chinese Vocational Education.

Graduates’ Employment Fields: Commercial banks, fintech companies, asset management firms, securities and insurance institutions, etc., engaging in financial data analysis, investment and wealth management, financial product marketing, and other related roles; they can also pursue economic data statistics and analysis in enterprises and public institutions. Big Data and Financial Management (Junior School Program, enrolling both liberal arts and science students, three-year program)

        Advantages and Characteristics: This program adopts a "school-enterprise collaboration + curriculum-post-competition-certification" dual-integrated, four-in-one professional talent cultivation model. Relying on the Digital and Intelligent Finance Modern Industry School, it conducts diversified internships and training activities through deep integration with enterprises. Professional courses are designed to equip students with the knowledge and capabilities required for career development and professional knowledge expansion in target vocational positions. While obtaining academic certificates, students can also apply for qualifications such as Banking Professional Qualification, Securities and Futures Industry Practitioner Qualification, Auditing Professional Technical Qualification, Junior Accountant, and 1+X Financial Shared Services Certificate. E-commerce (Junior School Program, enrolling both liberal arts and science students, three-year program)

 Professional Advantages and Characteristics: Centered on business management and supported by information technology, this program is a key junior school major prioritized by the university. Rooted in the needs of regional economic development, it caters to e-commerce job requirements, aligns with industry development trends, and provides precise services to industry enterprises and vocational positions. The program cultivates comprehensive e-commerce professionals with capabilities in industrial promotion, e-commerce live streaming, mobile marketing, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Tourism Management (Junior School Program, enrolling both liberal arts and science students, three-year program)

    Professional Advantages and Characteristics: Tourism Management is a key-supported program at the university, with a long-standing history and stable professional scale. It has established four large-scale practical teaching bases, including Zhihui Farm, Lichuan Base, Caijiao Base, and Changhe Base. The program focuses on cultivating applied composite talents with good comprehensive quality, solid professional theoretical foundations, and strong practical operation capabilities, who can adapt to the development of domestic and international tourism industries and the needs of multiple sectors.

Marketing (Junior School Program, enrolling both liberal arts and science students, three-year program)

    Professional Advantages and Characteristics: Relying on the Digital and Intelligent Finance Modern Industry School, this program fully utilizes the university’s industry-academia-research-application platform, continuously establishing "specialized customized classes" with university-run enterprises, and forming school-enterprise partnerships with renowned enterprises such as Starbucks and Fanta wild. This has created a robust ecosystem for internships, training, and employment, with the student employment rate having remained above 95% for three consecutive years.
