Faculty Profile


Our university currently employs over 1,100 faculty members, including more than 300 professors and associate professors.  The team includes 12 provincial-level talents, 11 provincial scientific innovation and teaching teams, and 13 outstanding grassroots teaching organizations.  


We have established a well-structured faculty team led by distinguished professors, with PhD holders as the core and young-to-middle-aged teachers as the main body. In recent years, our faculty has undertaken over 1,100 research projects, including 26 National Natural Science Foundation projects (ranking first among peer institutions in Hubei and among the top nationally in similar universities) and has won three Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Awards.

Research Focus:

Gene networks, drug resistance mechanisms, and anti-tuberculosis drug targets in Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Key Achievements:

· Led >10 major projects (NSFC Key Program, 973 Program, National Major Infectious Disease Project)

· Pioneered the global protein-protein interaction network and transcriptional regulatory network of M. tuberculosis

· Elucidated novel mechanisms of bacterial growth/drug resistance

· Identified 3 novel diagnostic antigens for tuberculosis

· Discovered proprietary small-molecule antibacterial compounds

To establish a “talent special zone” for scientific innovation, Wuhan University of Bioengineering launched the Changhe Scholars Program in 2016.
